Journal #60

Out of the blue. When I think of something as simple as “out of the blue”, I often think of my novel’s original working title, Beyond the Blue Kite. I eventually changed the title after receiving a manuscript evaluation.

I really dug deep into music over the years, and it became a major part of my creative life. Whether I was producing music or deejaying, sometimes I felt like I had to rewire my brain for writing. Music influenced the way I thought, the way I told stories, and the way I approached my work. I wasn’t just listening to records; I was studying the sounds, the atmosphere, and the history behind them. It was all part of my journey through the Technossance.

I got into the radio business with Lionheart. I built radio stations, experimented with different formats, played the “pop hits”, did voice acting, and spent countless hours putting entertainment together. A lot of the commercials were business-to-business advertising, and the approach worked, but it never paid particularly well. There was plenty of work involved, and the financial rewards didn’t always reflect the effort I put into it. Maybe a little too much.

The music and shows were another part of the equation. “Fair use” is a legal concept in media law, although whether a particular use qualifies depends on the circumstances. I understood that working with music and entertainment involved legal considerations, but the business side could be complicated. Meanwhile, scams are on the rise, making it harder to know which emails and offers are legitimate. After years of working in media, I learned that not every opportunity deserves a response, let alone investment of time and money.

Then I received an email claiming I was being considered for induction into the Radio Hall of Fame next year. Apparently, someone appreciated my work with the radio stations, voice acting, deejaying, and playing the “pop hits”. It was an unexpected message, but I decided to turn it down. I replied to the email and told them I wasn’t interested. After everything I’d accomplished, I didn’t feel the need to chase another honour. I’d spent enough time behind the microphone, building my own entertainment world, and I was ready to enjoy retirement on my own terms. The drunk people of Brewington understood my decision.

WOW Radio might be hard to find, but once you get it streaming, you’re in for a treat. It sounds loud and great. Here are my top heavy metal songs for the day.

Top 5 WOW Songs:

  1. “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)” by Metallica ‧ 1986.
  2. “Hail To The King” by Avenged Sevenfold ‧ 2013.
  3. “King Me” by Lamb Of God ‧ 2012.
  4. “Ace’s High” by Iron Maiden ‧ 1984.
  5. “Chop Suey!” by System Of A Down ‧ 2001.

Metallica redefined heavy metal with their thunderous riffs, pounding drums, and unmistakable sound. From Master of Puppets to The Black Album, the band became one of the most influential forces in rock history, proving that metal could reach audiences around the world without losing its edge.

The Technossance Magazine is something special, and it’s done. Afterthought designed like an epilogue for the comic book. What a ride.
