Out of the blue. The three-headed monster lost it with a tiny ant that wouldn’t stop bothering it, so with one quick stomp, the poor little pest was gone. All three heads agreed it was a dramatic solution to a small problem.
I once wrote a poem that included a three-headed monster. The poem was called Fright and Fury, and it’s something I did a long time ago.
I’ve been called many things over the years, but I was especially surprised when Ottis and Jeremy started referring to me as Mr. September. I never saw that one coming, but I had to admit it gave me a good laugh. Of all the nicknames I’ve collected it became one of my favourites.
As the months quietly pass by, so do the memories of the characters who once filled my stories. Like sand slipping through an hourglass, they gradually fade into the past, leaving behind only the echoes of radio.
Wyatt McReynolds never seemed to get the same level of recognition as me, and he was never known as Mr. Traffic. Travis, meanwhile, never looked at it that way while he was playing the role — he simply wanted to be paid more. For him, the paycheck mattered more than the title.
I quickly forgot about traffic again. The three-headed monster reappeared and passed me five records. I was grateful.
