Journal #26

Out of the blue. A little older every day. I thought I had put the finishing touches on my author website, but I found myself making final adjustments again. It happens. I guess my author bio had to be longer. Whatever.

Either I’m always talking about my novel, or I’m not talking about it enough. All the money I make from my novel goes towards animal rescue. You can listen to a trailer of my novel from The Rich Experience available on Spotify.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be Rich Cornstarch, the pastor of St. Ray’s Church, standing quietly at the entrance after closing the doors for the final time. Something is haunting about leaving behind a whole community and stepping away from the noise of the world altogether, one last time.

In my imagination, Rich Cornstarch disappears into solitude, living quietly like a monk, far from Brewington and its distractions. No crowds, no expectations, no ceremonies — just long days of reflection, prayer, and silence. But maybe after listening to everyone else’s problems, he was finally done with it all.

I don’t have any magical white powder, but I do have the magic of music. I spend time listening to my record collection whenever I need to slow things down. Those albums on the record player have a way of soothing the soul.

Today’s Top 5 Songs:

  1. “In the Eye of the Sun” by The Doors ‧ 1971.
  2. “Foxey Lady” (Live) by Jimi Hendrix ‧ 1968.
  3. “Communication Breakdown” (Live) by Led Zeppelin ‧ 1970.
  4. “Accidents Will Happen” by Elvis Costello ‧ 1979.
  5. “Eyes Without a Face” by Billy Idol ‧ 1983.

I own the complete first season of Diff’rent Strokes from 1978 on DVD. The classic sitcom was about two young brothers from Harlem, Arnold and Willis Jackson, who are taken in by a wealthy businessman named Philip Drummond after the death of their mother. The TV show blended comedy with heartfelt moments while exploring family life, friendship, and social issues through the experiences of the boys adjusting to a completely different world. Willis Jackson, played by Todd Bridges, is the last surviving member of the cast.

The Technossance Magazine is from a popular era, but it’s out of commission. There won’t be any more issues of the Technossance Magazine. The publication had a unique run and explored a wide range of ideas, stories, music, and creative experiments over the years. While the book has come to an end, the music connected to it will definitely remain part of its legacy. Not surprisingly, I’ve listened to everything, every stream. I listened to the issue about the Grateful Dead recently. But when the music’s over, turn out the lights.
