Journal #22

Hey there! It’s Thursday. This is the last random journal for this month. It’s the last day in April, and it’s cloudy and cool outside in my neck of the woods.

I live a pretty busy life in retirement, but I’ll sometimes look at my sports card collection. It’s just a matter of making time for the hobby. Some of the diverse cards that I collect include car racing, college and pro football, minor and pro baseball, hockey, and basketball. My Boomer Esiason card is a Pro Bowl-era piece from his days with the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s been a strong voice on the radio over the years, even if he sometimes goes off on long sports tangents. Every now and then, I find myself wondering about the news article — whether he ever partied at La Boom — and what he might think about the tragedy.

I’m using my Nirvana mug, almost down to the last drop of coffee. Ripping through my vinyl collection, all my albums remain in mint condition.

Top 5 Songs for April 30th, 2026:

  1. “The Cover of the Rolling Stone” by Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show ‧ 1972.
  2. “HandClap” by Fitz and The Tantrums ‧ 2016.
  3. “Fortnight “by Taylor Swift ‧ 2024.
  4. “Territorial Pissings” by Nirvana ‧ 1991.
  5. “I Saw Her Standing There” by The Beatles ‧ 1963.

Going back over the Technossance Magazine cover, just to look at it on screen. The comic book cover comes alive and really pops. There’s great demo streams, even bonuses. The videos are really awesome and were some of the last.

Every now and then, I think about my novel. Ray was charming, full of energy, but down on his luck. Amazingly, he made it through the worst weekend.

When I was young, I was really good at writing things out and using the old typewriter. Teachers told me that I was good at writing essays. It morphed into poems, reflections, and narrative verse. Can’t believe I finally finished The Great Beyond this year, and it’s a great book. Much of it is poetry, but I don’t write much poetry anymore. Retirement is great, but I still dabble in very loose free verse now and then. Sometimes I post it on my Twitter/X just for fun.
